The Leinster Senior League Cup is a major rugby competition in Ireland, involving all senior rugby clubs in Leinster, i.e. clubs from Leinster competing in the All-Ireland League. The teams are drawn into three groups and play each other once; and the winners of each group and the best runners-up qualify for the semi-finals.〔(Leinster Senior League Cup 2014/15 Section A )〕〔(Leinster Senior League Cup 2014/15 Play-offs )〕 Originally the Leinster Senior Cup, the competition has been competed for by the strongest clubs in the province of Leinster since 1882. In recent years it has declined in importance due to the introduction of the All-Ireland League and the formation of a professional provincial team to compete in the Heineken Cup. Following the demise of the Leinster Senior League some time around 2006〔(Leinster Senior League Cup 2006/07 )〕 the two competitions were combined as the Leinster Senior League Cup. From 1940-1947 Old Belvedere completed the still unrivalled feat of winning the cup 7 times in a row narrowly losing their 8th consecutive final to Wanderers. The winners compete with the other three provincial cup winners for the All-Ireland Cup.
